Jesse went to Japan

After spending an amazing week in Japan, this is my big take-away!

The journey of a leader

As leaders, we are stepping into this role out of necessity and must develop a “Rice Culture” mentality. The “Rice Culture” mentality simply stated is:

Everyone must help to grow and harvest the rice. Those who do not help grow or harvest, will be banished and starve.

However, after a period of success, we can become too relaxed. Letting out too much slack, until there is a conflict that forces us to reset expectations, banishing sloppiness and falling in love with precision.

Although, sometimes, when holding the rope tight we choke out the culture by focusing only on the ONE and not celebrating the 99. We must use praise to add pride into our work (which is the highest honor in life). Be patient, let them feel what is necessary, so they too can be developed.

Remember: Dirt, over time, turns into a mountain, so never give up!
